Spam hitting small companies exploded in 2006
New study finds that the amount of spam hitting smaller companies' email servers shot up by a third in 12 months.
The study of 400 SME's found that in January 2006 only 64% of emails sent to companies were identified as spam. This figure increased
to 85% in December 2006 with the upward trend set to continue.

IT global carbon emissions 'the same as aviation'
Global IT use pumps out around 2% of world carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a figure equivalent to aviation, says
analyst Gartner.
The 2% estimate includes in-use PCs, servers, cooling, fixed and mobile telephony, LANs, office telecoms and printers.
The figure also includes the energy used in the production and distribution of large volume devices like PCs and mobile phones.

2 out of 3 British web users lose significant portions of their time to irrelevant net browsing, according the study.
